The Joi of Social Work

Joi Britt is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker born & raised in the Bronx. She earned her BS in Human Services from St. John's University in 2006 & MSW from NYU in 2012. Joi has worked with children, adolescents and families for over a decade. She has spoken about mental health and the importance of mental health awareness and wellness on several panels, podcasts, and publications including Vogue. Joi stepped out of her comfort zone and into her purpose and opened her private practice, Life Intentionally Psychotherapy Services LCSW PLLC, in November 2019. Her focus has been on working with mostly Women of Color around areas of trauma, depression, anxiety, relationships and race. In a complete leap of faith Joi resigned from her full time job as a Social Work Director in March 2020, days before quarantine began, to focus on her dream to be in private practice full time. She is licensed in NY and NC and temporarily in NJ.

Joi is the host of The Joi of Social Work Podcast which launched in January of 2018. The Joi of Social Work Podcast was born as a result of Joi being hit with tragedy in 2009, 2011 & 2017; with the deaths of her father, mother & boyfriend. Joi has also taken her story of life after loss and the importance of mental health care; especially in Black and Brown communities and shares it with listeners. Joi and her guests always keep it real, honest & authentic on The Joi of Social Work Podcast!
